Successful Network Planning and Management begins with solid, up-to-date network infrastructure documentation. Computer Networks consist of a number of components including Hardware (Servers, Desktops, Laptops, PBXs, Switches, Hubs, Routers etc.), Software (Desktop OS, Network OS, Word Processing, CRM, ERP etc.) and many services including Voice and Data Connectivity. Documenting for inventory purposes as well as configuration purposes is critical to reducing the total Cost of Ownership of your Network Infrastructure.
Developing and Maintaining accurate Network Documentation assists in long and short-term technology planning because it provides an accurate and current “snap shot” of the network. This “snap shot” allows IT Managers to accurately plan for network changes and upgrades and allows for more efficient troubleshooting of existing problems. Additionally, all of the components of the computer network are corporate assets, therefore accurate records are vital.
We have developed a methodology for Assessing the Network Infrastructure and developing the required Network Documentation.
